Follow Your Art - Steampunk Owl

Well, Christmas is over and I am done playing with my holiday images.  Let's start with This wonderful little owl by Stampendous.  I have to admit I've never been a big owl fan.  Seriously, anything that can turn its head all the way around freaks me out a bit.  But, this little gentlemen is so sweet and versatile.  I've combined him with a few stamps to create a framed art piece.

I first stamped the Steampunk Owl with archival ink in black.  Then the smaller pine bushes from Pinecone Boughs also in archival black.  I flash dried it with my heat gun and then embossed the large pine needles with detailed gold.  Don't worry about going over the top of your already stamped images, you'll want to give your project dimension.  I used distressed inks to chalk in the color.  Chalking with distress inks is a quick way to color an image...it does take practice :)  The red flowers I embossed with detail gold and smushed them a lot to break the fibers down and distress them.  Now comes adding all the goodies!

Thanks for visiting today!
see you next time -Rhea

"I Triple Dog Dare You!"

I have recently found Doodle Dragon Studios by Dustin Pike through my friend Jennifer Dove.  Holy Crap are these images not only adorable but if you add the right title to them they are a real hoot.

We are going to be doing a Hue's Who on Dustin in the spring issue of Designed To Color Magazine.  I've been coloring and laughing with some of his image for this upcoming issue...It's been so much fun. I had to do this one and share it right away.

Soldier Santa - Make It Crafty

As some of you know, I am a mother of an United States ARMY Soldier.  So I designed this card for him.  It totally fits his cheeky since of humor.  I've been keeping this design in my head for quite some time and was pleased when it came to life.  Actually designing something patriotic for my soldier always brings a few tears to my eyes.

I would be pleased if you lifted this photo by right clicking and "saving picture as" send it to a soldier you may know.  It is also on my facebook page waiting to be reposted for a special person serving to protect us.

My wish this holiday season is simple...That all those brave men and women are safe.  If they are unable to be home with their families they are with their brother and sister soldiers sharing this special holiday together and sharing wonderful stories of home.  I hope that is what my son will be doing.

Just in case you get to see this Post Private Sutto....I love you son and Merry Christmas!!!!  "I love you more" :)  I miss you, xoxoxo

Ok, now that my eyes are leaking and I don't know why......I colored Santa with Copics and here are the colors I used

Poinsettia Tag - Anything Goes

Yes, it is time for a new challenge at..

Your mission should you choose to accept it is...
Anything Goes

So, here we go with another fun filled two weeks of Holiday Inspired!  Be sure to play along for your chance to win a $20 gift certificate to the store.

I love it when we have "Anything Goes" for our challenges!  Heck, you can pull out your favorite Easter Bunny stamp and make a card and it qualifies...how cool is that!  I'm not quite ready for the Easter Bunny yet so I'm bringing you a holiday tag which is now hanging on my tree.  Yup, tags make great ornaments :)

After I was completely done with coloring  Jumbo Poinsettia I stamped and embossed the swirls from the Damask Chair clear cling set over it.

First I used Aged Ivory...just a few and then went over the top with more swirls in Aged Gold.

After embossing I accented the middle of the flowers with Halo Gold Mix.  Added red berries by dotting red stickles and then finished with ribbon and a couple of charms.

Make It Crafty Fairy-Bauble

Hello,  wow is it a busy time of year or what!  Seriously, is it Easter yet?  Well the stockings are hung and the tree is trimmed.  The presents are bought and paid for :)  Helps there were only 2...LOL. Now it's time to..........well.......I have no clue what to do!  I've never been done this early.  So I guess I will relax, enjoy my family and create.

Make It Crafty has some wonderful little digi stamps to color.  Here is "Fairy-Bauble"

Little Miss Fairy Bauble has been fussy cut and really pieced out.  I colored her of course with my copics.

I hope you enjoy today's little inspiration!  Hugs...Rhea

Sparkly Winter Wishes

Good Morning,  Bringing you another bit of inspiration for 7 Kids College Fund.  We still have out challenge going on "Holiday Inspired" with only a week left.  I hope you hop on over to 7 Kids Challenge Blog and play along for a chance to win!

Sparkly little snowflakes are always pretty on cold winter days.
I played around with my alcohol inks and gloss paper to make the background which is always fun.  Messy but fun!  I used Black, Stream and Pool.  After it was dry I stamped and embossed the background with detailed silver embossing powder.  The stamp is "Snowflake" a wonderful background stamp by Stampendous.  The sentiment is from the Snowglobe Kiddo cling set also from Stampendous.  Add a little Aged Marine Embossing Powder around the edges, a little silver stickles and bit of tulle and that's about it.

Thanks for stopping by and leaving a little love note.  I enjoy everyone's comments so much and they inspire me to keep creating new and different things.  Warm winter hugs!  Rhea

Here's your shopping list :)

Holiday Inspired

So, here we go with another fun filled two weeks of Holiday Inspired!  Be sure to play along for your chance to win a $20 gift certificate to the store.

With the Holiday's now in full swing, your credit card screaming, "no, don't swipe me again" and your stress level climbing as your days left to holiday shop dwindle.  Awe, what an age we live in.  So, I thought I would go back in time with a the Simplistic Romance of good old Saint Nick.

Dude, all you got back then was a flippin' orange in your sock and if you were really a good kid you got a few nuts in there too.  If that wasn't bad enough it was the sock you had been wearing for the last few days maybe even weeks.  And you were happy about it.  I didn't want to go to far, this Saint Nick is just right.  He has a little tree and just a few goodies.

This card was fun to make.

I colored with distress ink pads using a dry brushing technique.  Then covered my design with sookwang tape and cut the oval out.  Peeled off the other side of the tape and covered with warm clear glitter ritz.  Seriously cool.  This made him look very old and shimmery.

I distressed, stamped and embossed the background paper.  put the greeting on and the card is done.

Now, Time to treat yourself to a little holiday shopping!
No oranges or nuts in your socks....
