Fall is coming - DoveArt Studios

Hello, I am sharing a lovely fall image for DoveArt Studios called Pumpkin Patch.
This is a great image to color as it gives you the line art showing where the shadows go!
It's nice not to worry about light source :)

Here is the Color Palette I used :)

Power Poppy New Digital Release

Welcome to todays inspiration for Power Poppy release of the newest digital image!

The leaves and fruit/seeds of each tree are intertwined, the Oak for strength and the Olive for peace... the sentiment shares wishes along these lines. I think we all can use a little peace and strength somedays, can't we?

I truly enjoyed this particular design as I love fall most of all the seasons.  The changing of the trees is such a beautiful thing to watch here in Central/Upstate New York.

Make sure to visit the Power Poppy Blog, some of fellow design sisters also have inspiration with the new release.  You can just click here to find the list.

Because this is a detailed image I have really broken down the colors for you.  I've gone from lightest to darkest on each one.  For the background I used a water brush filled with blending solution to keep the color pure.  (Alcohol can seperate the different colors from the marker)  I then added 99% alcohol to create the texture.  From there, I colored, starting at the top with E41 down into the texture and shaded E42 and went over with again with E41.  I did go over with Blender pen to soften the overall look. of the background.

Remember, each month on the 15th Power Poppy releases a new digital image!  Mark your calendar!

Wendy's Kisses - LDRS

Hello, Rhea here today to bring you a little CandiBean Inspiration for LDRS.  Here is Wendy's Kisses.  There are so many adorable stamps available from the CandiBean Collection that you just have to see!  So just have a look by clicking HERE

Creating Clean and Simple is the trend.  However, I find it difficult at times.  I keep wanting to add more details and layers.  Clean and Simple designing isn't as easy as it looks...LOL.  I think I am somewhere in-between but getting the hang of it.

Here are the colors I used :)  enjoy!   I also used a white and blue Kirarina Wink Pens, Multiliner in black, BG10, and Yellow Spica pen to create the border.

I will see you soon for more inspiration.  xo

Coloring Tip: Using grays to add contrast and dimension - Power Poppy

Hello Power Poppy Friends!  Today I am bringing you Berry It Digital Stamp.  I couldn't make the August 25th post to release this image so I thought I would share it with you on my monthly inspiration post with a little coloring tip.

This months tip:  Don't be afraid to use grays to make your colors deeper and more rich looking.  It helps to give more dimension and contrast to your projects.

Here is how I teach to use grays; When I've colored a few berries with the regular colors, I decided where I want to make RV99 (in this case) darker.  I then added N7 to that area and immediately went over it with RV69.  These two colors will blend together on the paper making the top color a darker shade and you won't see the gray.  Then I will blend it out with the sequence of colors, this is done lightly.  Once you get the hang of it you can just start by adding gray before your darkest color and blending out from there.

I used N gray because I didn't want any blue or brown undertones.

I only do this with Copic XPress Paper as it allows me more time to work with my coloring and has less of a chance of looking "muddy" with more ink added.

I will be back next month for more coloring tips with Power Poppy!
