Fast Finish Canvas - Nesting Bird

Hi again, this is Rhea, last year Stampendous and Beacon Products collaborated for a week of fun.  We worked with Fast Finish Decoupage from Beacon with Stampendous Stamps and products.  This 5x7 Canvas was my favorite.  I thought I would bring to you today with a full step out tutorial.

You can also use a stretched canvas if you like.  If you use a canvas board it is easier to frame or you can make an altered book cover.  Let's get this project started shall we...

Take 4 or 5 pages out of an old book.  Stamp CRR 158 Nesting Bird in the center of 1 page with Black Archival ink. You will want to use Archival Ink because Fast Finish is water based and very fluid.  Archival is a permanent ink and will not smear once the product is applied. Next, only ink the lower branch and stamp on the same page but at the bottom as shown in photo.  You will tear these separately later.  Set aside.

Background Page - ink and stamp only the upper leaves of the stamp 3 times.  These will be stamped in the upper left hand corner as shown in the photo.

On another page stamp another branch only and set aside.

Dry brush the image with distressed ink pads using chalking applicators.  Lightly swipe ink just like if you were using chalks.   Cut the background page to fit you canvas.  The tear the other images to fit your background page into the arrangement you desire.

TIP:  Make sure to ink the edges of torn pieces.  This will help to give the finish piece dimension.

Now it is time for the fun stuff.  To tint fast finish is really easy.  Put a little Fast Finish Decoupage into a small jar.  Add 2-4 drops of distress ink depending on how dark you want your decoupage.  It is that simple!

I used Peeled Paint and Walnut Stain to make green and brown Fast Finish.

First paint the canvas with regular/clear Fast Finish and the back side of the background paper.  Second cover the back side only of each piece and lay on top of background paper.  Do Not put any Fast Finish on the front side yet.

With paint brush first apply clear paint brush to the section with the nesting bird.  Then brush brown on the two sections with the branches and finally brush the green on the background.

The reason you don't want to paint green all over the background then layer is because the ink will bleed through the book page.

Lightly sprinkle crystal micro glitter over the nesting bird.  Guess what...you can also put a little Fast Finish in a jar and add glitter to it.

Time to add our Elements...
Brush on clear Fast Finish where you want your elements.  Place Bronze MicaGreen Glass GlitterGold Halo Mix.  Once you have everything where you want it.  Generously dab Fast Finish over the top with your brush and let dry.

I hope you've enjoyed this project.  Don't forget to leave a little love, I'm excited to see what you think.  I would also love to have you become a follower :) That would just make my day!  Hugs to you!!!  -Rhea
