Poinsettia Creations

Hello and Happy Friday!

With the Holiday's now in full swing I am sharing a little card that is perfect for just about anyone. It is also very fast and simple

The Stampendous poinsettia background and the Spellbinders poinsettia creations are a perfect pair.
Use the new Matting Basics by Spellbinders to keep the design fast and simple.

Challenge yourself - with the Matting Basics, 2 colors and a cream or white. 1 stamp and 1 die. lay them all out in front of you.  Give yourself 30 minutes to make a card.  It's fun.  You will be surprised.  I know people that do it in 15 minutes.  There is no way I can do it.

Paris Christamas

HAPPY ROMANTIC HOLIDAYS!

Good Morning, I thought I would bring the romance of Paris to our holiday season with lots of stamping, texture and a touch of vintage.

I created the background with a few of my favorite Stampendous images.

  • First stamp the Music Notes in Coffee by Archival
  • Second stamp the Jumbo Pinecone Bough in Library Green by Archival
  • Third stamp and emboss in detail gold the swirl from Damask Chair
  • With forest moss distress ink lightly color around the foliage
  • With aged mahogany distress ink lightly color here and there around the swirls
  • With a edge distresser rough up the edges of the paper and ink with walnut stain distress ink
  • I used a medium called "Creative Medium" and the "Vintage Medium" to make it look old.  It also gives it a little shimmer.
  • Wrap with ribbon
  • with plum archival ink stamp the french greeting from Stampendous Eiffel Tower and put it through a paper crimper
  • Also put your background paper through a paper crimper
  • with a metallic gold paper cut out the new Eiffel Tower from Spellbinders
  • Assemble and there you have it.
I just love these and I hope you do too.  Thanks so much for visiting and I would love to know what you think.  I would also love to have you follow me...I am always adding new designs and techniques and I love to share!!!!  Hugs, Rhea

Now for the fun part....Let's shop!!!

Graphic 45 Inspired

Graphic 45's new Calendar line is out and is so fabulous!!!  This little sweetie is from the November Page.  I used the Spellbinders Grand Ovals to create the card with the scalloped ovals and large ovals for the layers with October Afternoon paper and covered the punched leaves with Glitter Ritz.

Twisted Elf Humor by Make It Crafty

"Hello there."  Well, I've shared my style from simple elegance to very detailed.  From Vintage to totally Shabby Chic/Girly Girly and Steampunk.  But what I have not shared is my twisted humor.  Well, if you've actually read my post you may have caught glimpses of it.

Make It Crafty has a collection of wonderful digital images from the sweetest fairies to these mischievous elves.  They even have Santa's with an attitude!  I just love these little dude's so much I had to share them.

I will have another one next Sunday :)  so stay tuned

I was fortunate enough to join my good friend Jennifer Dove at her "Copic Build A Book" retreat here in Phoenix a couple of weekends ago.  I've only been coloring with copics about a year and Jennifer really took me to the next level and beyond!!!

She now has me addicted to airbrushing and texturizing with different fabrics with the blending solution.  The twinkle background was done with burlap...lol.

She is has a Build A Book classes here in Phoenix at 3 different stores...and they are starting soon!!!!  You totally have to check out her blog!!!!  Jennifer Dove at Just4FunCrafts

A Little Holiday Magic from Spellbinders

Good Morning :)  Today's inspiration is from Spellbinders.  This year they have released a wonderful collection of embossing folders called "M-BOSSABILITIES"  These embossing folders are fantastic in detail and won't cut your paper!  They also come in 3 different sizes.  ES which is your standard size.   EL which is large enough to do a 5x5 with left over..."holler" and EG which is 8 1/2 x 11!!!!  "scream"  You can emboss your entire card with the "scream".  Or for me when I teach a class...I can cut my prep time way down...now that's worth screamin' bout....just sayin'

So let's see how I created this design....

Once I embossed my design I masked off the ornaments using removable double sided tape.  Then I worked Forrest Moss into the background.  I removed the mask and worked Vintage Photo all over lightly.

In the details of the ornament, I filled with glossy accents.

Fast Finish Fall Hop - Butterfly Love

Hello!  Another exciting day with Stampendous and FAST FINISH DECOUPAGE by Beacon Adhesives.

Today I'm focusing on pastels, butterflies and paper doilies.

This is a 5x7 board canvas.  Of course you can see all the fantastic elements and images from Stampendous.  Well, see the background color?  It's not colored paper.  It's not inked.  It's not painted.
It's Fast Finish Decoupage died with my choice of ink.  Seriously AWESOME!  I did it by accident and and went crazy from there, as you will see this week in my projects.  So Here is what I did.

I used one of Stampendous clear bottles.  I poured a little Fast Finish Decoupage into it and added 1-2 droops of distress ink and applied just like you normally would.  The result is so amazing and fast!  I have been a decoupaging fool!!!

In this project there were no glues used at all!  The other thing I discovered is Fast Finish is perfect for adding your fragments.  You can even use it to emboss...but be careful not to burn your project or catch fire to it.

Let's get started
----for details on adding color to Fast Finish visit Tuesday's Project
  • stamp CRP147 Butterfly Post onto regular copy paper.
    • I did 6 of them.
    • cut out only the butterflies
    • chalk with distress inks from the center out using colors of your choice.
    • set these aside for later
  • Tear and layout your paper doilies.
    • With a paint brush lightly paint on the Fast Finish to your canvas board or canvas.
    • start in the center for first doily.
      • cover the back with clear fast finish then "paint' the front with brown tinted fast finish
    • work around the edges just like you did with the center piece but "paint" with different tinted fast finish and use lots of layers with the doilies.
    • Remember to "paint" each doily with a different color of tinted fast finish
  • Stamp R105 Dream Text on a piece of copy paper and cut out each definition
  • Layout where you want your butterflies and apply clear Fast Finish.
    • remember to brush a little on the back and rub paper into place
    • then brush a little on the top covering the edges.
  • Choose which definitions you want to use and with clear Fast Finish attach to project
  • Now take a little FRG04 Gold Halo Mix and lightly sprinkle over entire project.  Blow or tap board to knock off the extra.
  • Time to emboss the edges!  Easy!!
    • brush a little Fast finish along the edge of the board
    • apply Aged Wine Embossing Powder
    • heat slowly.  It will bubble if you heat to quickly.  Be very careful.

Thanks for visiting today!  Don't forget, leave a little comment to let me know what you thought of todays project.  Also, I would love to have you follow my blog!!!  Hug, Rhea

A Little Bling

Yes, it is time for a new mission at..
7 Kids College Fund!

Your mission should you choose to accept it is...
BLING!

So, I'm sharing a this tag.  Don't you think it's a perfect fit for this challenge?  I designed this with Stampendous in July for the their summer release and now I'm here sharing with all of you for 7 Kids College Fund.

Magnolia Bling by:Passionate Paper Creations
This was seriously so simple.  I used copic markers to color. Ok, maybe it wasn't that simple

I colored the Jumbo Cling Magnolia with my copic's first adding yellow here and there for my highlights.  I then added Pirate Gold on the edges of the pedals and leaves.  Finally, paint a medium layer of glue on the background and pour on the Gold Halo Mix Glitter.  I worked in small areas to insure accuracy.   Add your ribbon, I used my favorite green and gold tule, and your done.

I hope you join our mission of BLING over at 7 KIDS Challenge Blog!  You could win a $20 gift certificate!

Don't forget to leave a little love :) - Rhea

Fast Finish Fall Hop - Felinus

Hello!  We have an exciting week for you!  Stampendous has teamed up with Beacon Adhesives and we are using their wonderful product called FAST FINISH DECOUPAGE.  Let me tell you...I'm in love with this product.  Over the next few days I will share why.

I used one of Stampendous clear jars.  Pour a little Fast Finish Decoupage into it and add 1-2 drops of distress ink and apply just like normal..  The result is so amazing and fast!  I have been a decoupaging fool!!!

In this project there were no glues used at all!  The other thing I discovered is Fast Finish is perfect for adding your fragments.

Let's get started

  • stamped and embossed R141 Clock Works onto regular copy paper.
    • I did 3 of them.
  • Tear around the edges
    •  ink the edges with brown this will help give definition once they are applied.
  • With a paint brush lightly paint on the Fast Finish to your canvas board or canvas.
  •  Paint the Fast Finish on the back of the paper saturating it. and lay into place.
    • Do not cover the front just yet.
  • Do this on all pieces until you have your background covered.
    • Note; with only 3 clock works stamped it will not be enough to cover the entire board so just tear regular paper and fill in the blank area.
  • Now in a small container that has a tight fit lid (you can seal and re-use later) pour a little Fast Finish and add 1 drop of your favorite ink (use a dye ink).
    • try it on a scrap piece of paper.  If you want it darker add another drop of ink and test again.
    • In this project I used Faded Jeans and Gathered Twig and Forrest Moss.
    • Yes,  I mixed 3 little containers.
  • Paint one front area with your blue color and one area with your green and the other with brown.
    • you can paint the areas based on how you laid out your design of the background.
    • NOW YOU SEE WHY THIS IS SO COOL!
You've just killed two owl's with one stone by adding ink to your Fast Finish and the look is totally cool.  Tip; apply the died Fast Finish in an even coat and then go back and dab more of the same color here and there leaving it to "puddle" and let dry.  Now you have depth.  Once a color is dry...go back and maybe add a little brown over the top to give it a more vintage look.  You can also paint on a little blue and then a little brown and watch the color change just like if you were painting.

To add your elements and fragment;  with the clear fast finish put a little puddle sprinkle the fragments dip brush in Fast Finish and touch to pile of fragments.  Fast Finish is thin so when you touch it to the fragments it will spread fast and cover all of them.  That's why you don't need glue :)

Thanks for visiting today!  Don't forget, leave a little comment to let me know what you thought of todays project.  Also, I would love to have you follow my blog!!!  Hug, Rhea
